About Me

Reza Ghatok
I'm Reza Ghatok from Bangladesh. I'm a contemporary writer and film-maker. I'm a published writer having sixteen tittles. Two of them is novel, six of them is short stories, two biographies, one essay, one film book, one music book and three of them is juvenile.
My debut feature film is HARIBOLThe film is based on true events. The story focuses on a young filmmaker who visits one of the villages of Baleshwar, after 35 years of the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.  He learns about a minority family who are marginalized by the people around them.
The fact that the film depicts the Liberation War and the marginalized minorities in the same frame is fascinating. The film, which took three years to complete, gives the audience a glimpse into the sacrifices of war heroines during the Liberation War and sufferings of a marginalized religious minority family in a village.
The male member of the family fall victim to village politics and chooses to become a Matua. The plot of the film revolves around a young director who travels to a village for making a film on a war heroine. After he arrives there, he gets told that the war heroine had left Bangladesh for India long ago. However, he soon hears the story of a farmer, who became a Matua after losing his family.
